Jamie and Morgan, the dynamic duo behind Construction2Style always impress with their renovations, but their newest kitchen remodel absolutely blew us away. For this project, we teamed up to create a unique Diamond to Subway Tile custom kitchen backsplash. This tile installation was based on a simple concept, but has a strong impact.
Here's the story behind this stunning before & after kitchen backsplash:
The Dream:
The dream for this before & after kitchen backsplash remodel was made to show and inspire Contruction2Style's clients to take risks. Morgan wanted to push timeless design elements as a showcase for her clients to see that being bold is a winning aesthetic. Open kitchen shelving, black cabinetry, and brushed gold hardware were all must-haves.
For the tile: Jamie wanted a neutral mixture of whites, Morgan wanted all Diamonds with some black tile, and our founder Mercedes wanted to take it to the next level with multiple shapes. Put all of those concepts together and you get this stunning backsplash. Now that's the beauty of collaboration!
The Making:
We dreamed this up to be a unique & daring project, so multiple illustrations of the proposed tile design were made to ensure that everyone was happy with the transition from white subway tile to the ombre of colorful diamonds. Next we printed our design on a full scale template so our layout artists were able to position each tile perfectly in place. Once the entire layout was mounted on mesh, we numbered all the different sections and cut the design into manageable-sized-pieces with a tile-by-number map in order to make install a breeze.2”x6” Subway Tile - 130 White. Medium Diamonds - 130 White, 77E Grey, 60 Silver Lining, 815W Light Grey, 155 Steel, 912W Cloudy Sky, 366 Satin Black, 613 Black.
The After:
The final kitchen will make your mouth drop! It shows the importance of considering tile in the overall design of the room. For example, the black ties together with the cabinetry while the white looks beautiful with the floating wood shelves & the stunning Cambria Delgatie countertops. Since its recent installation, Morgan has hosted a blogger's brunch and been on our local news channel WCCO talking about this fantastic kitchen transformation! We hope that you enjoy all of the beautiful photos as much as we have.
