Herringbone Backsplash - One Room Challenge by Leslie Style

You won’t believe this amazing transformation! Leslie, of The Leslie Style took on the One Room Challenge with her Colorful Kitchen Renovation. Using our 2″x6″ Subway Tile, we helped to design a dreamy Herringbone backsplash! We became friends with Leslie Style over Instagram! Little did we know that her one comment would unravel into one of our dreamiest collaborations. Currently participating in the One Room Challenge, Leslie was taking on her kitchen to match her airy, modern, and feminine style.

Here are the steps we took to create the perfect herringbone tile kitchen backsplash for her kitchen:

Inspiration

We first connected with Leslie when she found inspiration in a post about of our 3″x6” Subway Tiles in 214 Coastal Breeze. In her own words, Leslie “fell head over heels” from this image.

Design Details

After deciding on three areas of the kitchen to be tiled, Leslie used our tile calculator to figure out how many square feet of tile was needed. The space was previously a dinning room, here is a before shot:

Backsplash Rendering

Leslie decided on a 2″x6″ Subway Tile in a Herringbone pattern because she felt that the pattern paired well with the character of her 1886 home. Next, our sales and design team created a rendering of the space with the tile inspiration to scale.

Color Decisions

Making creative decisions can be challenging! This is why we suggest ordering samples and why we take the time to work with you to ensure you’ll love your tile choices. Sometimes you just need to see the color in context to its surroundings. While once in love with 214 Coastal Breeze, Leslie found that it didn’t quite match her paint the way she hoped. When unsure, she reached out to us to ask our opinion. We love to help our clients work through any design challenges! We landed on 22E Blue Opal and are all glad that we made this final tweak to get the color right on.

The Final Reveal

The finished kitchen is a fairy tale dream. Copper and pink accents create a calming and romantic space. We love the consistency in color that she used in her décor to make the most of this stunning tile installation. What makes us the most happy is to hear how much Leslie enjoyed working with us! We strive to make the process a wonderful and unique experience for each and every client.
