6 Custom Projects to Inspire your Next Statement Space

6 Custom Projects to Inspire your Next Statement Space

It's no secret that we love getting creative with tile. From funky fonts to impressive landscape cuts, our tile artisans have gotten custom tile designs down to a science. So whether you are looking to brand your business, add dimension to your home, or make a statement with lettering, we've got you covered. Here are 6 custom projects to inspire your next statement space!

1. Home Hearth Lettering

What better place to add custom tile lettering than to the focal point of your home? This dreamy Jkath Design fireplace features one of our all time favorite quotes by Henry David Thoreau that makes this custom project that much more magical. We love the classy monochromatic palette of 155 Steel and 366 Satin Black to show off different tile finishes instead of a stark contrast of color. This custom tile lettering project is the perfect mix of inspiring and cozy.

2. Do the Most Good

We couldn't resist adding this gorgeous kitchenette backsplash to the mix. This custom, hand cut mosaic is a true showstopper. From the pale pink herringbone tile, to the hand drawn lettering, to the arch that frames the design, this installation is truly impressive. We love when companies choose inspirational phrases to highlight in tile. The Coven is a women run, community co-working space so what better words to inspire your daily work routine than "Do the Most Good"? What phrase would you put in your work space to inspire you?

3. Get Down Coffee Co.

Last year we had the honor to work with Houston White to create an incredible tribute mural for his new Get Down Coffee shop in North Minneapolis. Houston White, founder of the Get Down, is an entrepreneur, community builder, and an totally inspiring partner to work with. The design is based on an image of his late wife who is his inspiration in life. This along with a custom cut Nas quote in a funky graffiti font makes this project one of our favorites. We can’t wait to see all that Houston has in store for Minneapolis and the community.

4. Come as You Are

Another branded custom project that we adore is the Steller Hair Co backsplash. This tiled backsplash is inspired by kindness, courage, and acceptance of everyone for who they are. Owner Katie Steller’s favorite quote, ‘come as you are’, is written in tile off to the right of the backsplash giving it a personal touch. We love when business owners use tile to convery inspirational messages to their clients. Steller says, “This mosaic is a visual representation of community, support, and the beauty of connection.”

5. Mid-Century Modern Custom Backsplash

If tiled lettering isn't your vibe, there are many other ways to get creative with custom tile. This Mid-Century Modern backsplash uses half circle and custom cut 4"x4" square tiles to create a one-of-a-kind look. Designer Emily Pueringer hit the ball out of the park with this whimsical yet classy backsplash. Utilizing funky custom cut tiles, retro pops of color and sleek clean lines makes this backsplash a Mid-Century Modern dream come true.

6. Landscape Inspired Backsplash

Last but certainly not least is the Flagstone Foods landscape inspired kitchenette backsplash. This custom cutting technique is becoming popular amongst our customers and we are totally on board. It creates an abstract mountain-like landscape that adds dimension to the space while still staying on trend with the herringbone pattern. We are looking forward to seeing more creative wavy projects in 2022!
