Here are 5 things to consider when choosing tile colors…
The Surrounding Rooms
Rather than separating your room-to-be-remodeled from the rest of your house, think of the color usage in other rooms and how they would flow together. Is there a theme that you would like to incorporate into your whole home? Consider the elements that tie your entire house together to help guide your decision.
The Size of the Room
Just like when choosing paint, it’s important to think about the effect the tile color will have on the size of your space. While dark and deep colors can be elegant and warming, they can make a room appear smaller. Bright and light colors can open up a small space and make a statement. In a larger room, you may want to spend more time integrating your palette choice with the furniture and room décor to have cohesive pops throughout the space.

What colors are you naturally drawn to? It could be a color that represents your personality or a color that you often wear because it suits you. Also consider what you want to room to represent. Do you want your bathroom to be a place to brighten up your morning or relax in the tub? These decisions are personal to you and how you want to use your space.

The 60/30/10 rule is a color concept to help you create balance with your palette. 60% of the color is your primary color, 30% your secondary color, and 10% your accent color. This concept can be used within your tile layout of the entire room. Do you want your tile to be a background color for the room or the accent?
