We were delighted to work with Johnna of Fox Meets Bear to update her kitchen with our handmade tile! Installing tile is equal parts: patience, fine craftsmanship, inspiration and a dash of hustle. On this charming Saturday afternoon we were well-stocked with it all!
Inspiration
Inspired by the lush forest that surrounds their quaint A frame home, Johnna chose to use our 2″x6″ Subway Tile in the color 1036W Bluegrass. 1036W Bluegrass is a deep, rich green with the smallest hint of blue.

Installation
Not only did we get the chance to supply Johnna with her beautiful handmade tile, but we also got to spend the day with her and her adorable family to help install their new kitchen backsplash!
Cutting Tile
Johnna with her safety glasses apprenticed our crew of female powerhouses – here she’s running the tile wet saw like a boss.
Placing Tile
Placing each tile is an art form in and of itself. In front of Johnna are pre-blended, loosely-laid out Subway Tiles awaiting a spot one the wall. With the assistance of tile spacers, this classic backsplash came to life one tile at time. Look at that concentration & focus. #goals
Sealing and Grouting Tile
Once all our tiles had been placed, we then sealed and grouted. Johnna chose a white grout which paired together beautifully with her white cabinets and countertops.
A Kitchen Fit for a Fox
Our intention was simple: work with Johnna to create a classic, beautiful tile that would become the backdrop of her kitchen adventures. It makes us so happy to be able to help her create a kitchen of her dreams. Johnna is an author of her upcoming cookbook titled, Tales from a Forager’s Kitchen coming in the Spring of 2018! With the amount of cooking and creating that happens in this forager’s kitchen, it was important to choose something with a clean & elegant pattern. The result? The backsplash looks like it was there all along.
