Sometimes beauty starts in the most unexpected places—like the shelves in the back of our studio, where boxes of leftover tile sit quietly, waiting. These are the extras: trims, shapes, and colors from past projects that didn’t make it into someone’s kitchen backsplash or bathroom wall. Too lovely to toss. Too full of potential to ignore.
When we first started talking with Room & Board about sharing our reclaimed tile wall art, it quickly became clear how much our values align. Both of our companies are committed to pushing the limits of design, trusting our instincts, and celebrating natural materials and American-made quality. This collaboration truly feels like a match made in heaven—and we’re excited to bring these unique pieces into your home through their platform.
Turning Waste into Wonder
What began as leftover pieces is now our Reclaimed Tile Wall Art Collection, made from 95% salvaged tile. We take those forgotten bits, re-glaze them, and piece them together in fresh, unexpected ways. The gentle curves, surface markings, and variations in color? That’s their history showing through—every piece a fingerprint of where it’s been.

Handmade in the Heart of Minneapolis
We work out of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, a neighborhood buzzing with creativity. Here, our small but mighty team of 28 makers builds each piece by hand. Many of us came to tile through ceramics, painting, or sculpture. Others simply fell in love with creating with their hands. Together, we make pieces that feel alive.

Why We Make It
Mercury Mosaics started with one woman, a box of tiles, and a belief: art should live in everyday spaces. Kitchens, entryways, public gathering places—these are the spots where people connect. Our reclaimed tile wall art lets us bring color, texture, and story into those moments.

Sustainability in Action
This collection is proof that sustainability and beauty can work together. By reimagining 95% of our tile production waste into something you can treasure for decades, we’re giving the planet a little love, too. Instead of sending scraps to the landfill, we’re turning them into art that will live in your home for years to come.
For us, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a daily practice. Every leftover piece we save is a reminder that materials have more to give, and beauty can come from rethinking what we already have. In a world that moves fast, this is our way of slowing down and honoring the resources, the process, and the craftsmanship that go into every tile.
