Favorite Projects of 2022, From Tiled Backsplashes to Mosaic Murals

2022 was a big year for our small but mighty tile company. We made mounds of progress on our new Design Studio, developed a whole new meaning for sustainable tile and made ready to ship handmade tile more accessible than ever. But most importantly, we delivered happy homes and smiling spaces with handmade tile project after project. As much as we are excited for what 2023 has in store for us, we want to take a moment to show off some of our favorites from 2022. Continue reading to peruse just a few our best-loved projects that caught our eyes and stole our hearts this past year.

1. Dazzling Diamond Backsplash

Emerald interiors have taken the design world by storm and we are so here for it. 2022 was a shining moment for our Medium Diamonds in 75 Emerald. You may remember these beauties from this ever so popular kitchen bar backsplash with it's all white surround. What makes this kitchen special is the richness that a dark warm surround brings to our Emerald glaze. It shows off every jewel tone and brilliant hue this glaze has to offer.

We love this glaze so much, we wrote a whole blog about it. For more ways to use 75 Emerald, visit our blog "Color Alert: Emerald Green"

2. Sunny Moroccan Fish Scale Shower

Another project that caught our eyes and stole our hearts this past year was this sunny Moroccan Fish Scale bathroom. We adore when clients take a risk with color. In fact, in our 2022 Tile Trend Forecast, we predicted a rise in warm tiled bathrooms and our fingers are crossed that 2023 continues this trend. It's always our hope that our tile will exude happiness from our clients but we think this bathroom proves it.

3. Multi Level Mosaic Magic

Can you say “Mercury Mosaics multi level mosaic mural” three times in a row? We can… and we did! This magnificent three story mural was created for St Olaf College and depicts different parts of their beautiful architecture throughout the campus. This mural is part of their housing project to create vibrant residential housing for their students after historical shortages of student housing on their campus. Our Tile Artisans deserve a huge round of applause for making this 30 foot masterpiece come to life. 👏

4. Homey Herringbone Tile Kitchen

This Bari J. Ackerman project came full circle this year. From its whimsical wallpaper to its gorgeous Patina backsplash, this kitchen would have us swooning from miles away. We added this project to this list not only because of its impeccable design but also because we love how our >123R Patina glaze looks like it's always been there. We adore this color for any vintage modern project.

5. Workplace Geo-Hex Kitchenette

This isn't just any workplace kitchenette... it's our workplace kitchenette! 2022 was a big year for our Design Studio progress and we are nearing the finish line. Not only did we want an inspiring workplace but we wanted to show our clients walking through the front door all the beauty that handmade tile has to offer. So, when picking out their backsplash or flooring tile, they can be inspired, too.

6. Brilliantly Bold Hexagon Bathroom

We are green with envy for this Vermont Pine Hexagon bathroom. This luxurious, moody powder room was a total dream come true this year. The black painted walls pair perfectly with the rich green tile to create an extra lavish look. This homeowner loved our tile so much, he tiled the kitchen and shower, too!
