Welcome in Spring with Bold Earth Tones

You may have noticed that many of our glaze colors are named after natural elements: Vermont Pine, Cloudy Sky, Lake Superior, Blue Opal...you get the picture. That's because we're inspired by the earth's natural hues. We believe ceramics and the handmade process of creating our tile are extremely appropriate mediums to express all that the natural world has to offer in color. With spring right around the corner we wanted to celebrate earth tones, but in classic Mercury Mosaics style, we chose colors with an extra pop of boldness. 

Here are 5 projects we love with bold earth tone colors: blue, green, yellow, orange, and pink. Each example features a glaze that is named after its inspiration in the natural world. Continue reading to see how to welcome the spring season with bold earth hues!

1. Blue Tile Colors

Did you know our factory is based in Minneapolis, MN? Also known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes...that being said, we draw deep inspiration from the water, and what better shape to sport the hue than Moroccan Fish Scales? For this kitchen backsplash we created a tiled ombre that fades from deep blue to white. One of the glazes is called Summer Sky, which we think is so appropriate for a backsplash that gives all the sunny and bright vibes of a crystal clear sky on a perfect day.

2. Green Tile Colors

There's nothing we look forward to more in spring than the budding of the grass and foliage around us...time to visit one of our favorite colors: green! If you take the time to look at our entire color palette, you'll see a lot of green and teal hues. These glazes create a bold and brilliant look while appealing to a variety of aesthetics. No glaze is more popular than the color below, Sea Mist. This glaze has a high variation, meaning there are multiple tones and depths to the color depending on how much glaze was applied while our Tile Elves painted them by hand. Can you see the detail of the brush strokes? Its one of the many reasons this color is our top-seller.

3. Yellow Tile Colors 

There's something about the color yellow that just exudes happiness. This stunning hue gives us all the good vibes of a springtime picnic laying in the sun. For this awesome custom floor below we used ceramic Diamonds for a cool geometric ombre. How could you not be happy walking on this floor everyday?

4. Orange Tile Colors 

Let's add some heat to this list with warm hues! Here is one of our favorites: Amber. This color has so much beautiful depth to it that it doesn't need to be a finished install to be inspiring. Just look at how beautiful the tile is on its own.

5. Pink Tile Colors 

At the end of the day, it's all about having fun. And nothing gives a fun and poppy look more than pink.  We're happy to see this hue resurface as a basic in the interior design world. Add a splash of this fresh glaze to your next tile install and your room will be like a permanent haven of spring...especially if you get a custom planter added.
