6 Decorating Tips to Make the Most of Your Tile

6 Decorating Tips to Make the Most of Your Tile

You've invested in handmade artisan tile, so give it the love it deserves by helping it look its best. Yes, our tile makes a statement strong enough to stand on its own, but just a little bit of intentional decorating can take it to the next level! There are a few tried and true tricks to style around your tile. We've seen and learned these from the many talented designers (and stylish homeowners) who have worked with our tile over the years. Keep reading to see our top 6 decorating tips, and learn how to make the most of your tile.

1. Always Use a Shower Glass Door

This is our number one advice for any tiled shower - install a shower glass door! It not only let's you show off your beautiful tile, but it makes your entire space look larger and more airy. Not only that, but it's easier to clean than a curtain (less germs!), non-toxic, less waste...do we need to go on? We know it's more of a commitment, but it's truly so worth it! Your tile will thank you.

2. Follow a Theme/Style

Make the most of your tile (and entire remodel) by following a theme! Whether it's a style like boho or preppy or a theme like cabin-getaway - by styling the entire space cohesively your tile will shine even brighter! One of the most popular themes with our tile? Coastal! Our Moroccan Fish Scales are perfect to complete any look that wants to give off that beach house charm.

3. Let Your Tile Pop

Looking for an easy way to make the most of your tile? It doesn't get easier than this. Simply allow your room to be a blank slate for your tile to pop against. This looks gorgeous in a bright white room, but any neutral, or a complementary wall color would do as well.

The project below was featured in HGTV's Stay or Sell. The dynamic duo, Heather and Brad of Fox Homes, brought Minnesota to Palm Springs by featuring local artists from the Twin Cities area throughout the home, and we are so proud to be a part of this impressive list. We actually had four tile installations throughout this home. Learn more about this project and see the rest of the tile with our blog "Palm Springs Eichler Filled with Tile"

4. Use Open Shelving

We adore open shelving. Not only does it offer beautiful styling options for your home, it's also a stunning way to get the most out of your tile backsplash. By using open shelving (also known as floating shelves) with tile behind it, you ensure that whatever is displayed on the shelves will look amazing with the backdrop of our handmade ceramic tile. It will also help open up your space creating more visual room and a contemporary aesthetic.

5. Consider Your Outlet & Switch Plate Covers

Can we just all agree that plastic outlet and switch plate covers have no place on artisan ceramic tile? While you may just be ready to be done with your remodel by the time you're considering this final detail, it's so worth your time! Over the years we've seen covers make or break an installation. Plus, there are some really fun designs out there for you to choose from. Whether you go elaborate or do something minimal like below, we promise having fun with this detail will make all the difference.

6. Match Colors

Centering a room around a color is a beautiful way to bring a polished style to your remodel. Whether you fall in love with one of our glaze colors, or want us to match a glaze color to your room's color, this concept will make you look like a design pro. It allows your tile to extend beyond its boundaries, tying together the entire space for an unforgettable design.
