We're celebrating April showers with bright spring colors in bathroom tile! This tiled shower floor in Whitney Hawkins' new bathroom has us floored. #ihaveathingwithfloors fans get excited to be inspired by this beautiful Small Moroccan Fish Scale monochromatic project.
Whitney has an airy mid-century modern style in her home. She embraces white space which lets her create strong focal points with simple decor pops. We feel lucky to get to be the focal point for her bathroom. After stumbling upon our handmade tile online, she fell in love, and we were more than happy to be a part of her beautiful home renovation.
Picking tile color & shape:
The choices in color and shape were based off basic mid-century modern principles: simplicity, functionality, strong geometric elements, and material juxtaposition. While planning to redo the floor, she decided that she wanted smaller tiles for more traction. She opted for a bright blue monochromatic color range, which still feels minimal and blends beautifully with the grey and white interior. The simple orientation and strong shape of the Moroccan Fish Scales were the perfect tile pattern and layout for a pop contrasting material that remained cohesive.

Finished Tile Floor:
We often let floors be a second-thought of the bathroom design, but if it's considered a centerpiece of the room it can create a stunning design statement. The handmade texture of each little scale beneath your feet just cannot be achieved with commercially-made tile. Our tile is extremely durable and easy to clean, making it a great choice for any floor in your home - see more examples in our inspiration gallery!
Bathroom Renovation Success:
Even the cats are in love with the floor, and have found their new favorite napping spot. This project is a great example of how a little handmade tile can go a long way. Very simple updates in small spaces can open up and brighten the vibe of the entire room.
