What better way to bring in the week of National Pizza Day then sharing our tile project at Pinsa Pizza? Three of our favorite things were brought together with this tile installation: Moroccan Fish Scales, tiled typography, and pizza! The bold mixture of red glazes brings together the fun atmosphere that every customer gets to experience when they walk in the door. For this blog, we were lucky enough to have the talented interior design team from Helix Architecture + Design to share their insights from the project!
Their tile dream:
“The idea for the restaurant was born when the owners took a trip to Italy and fell in love with a Roman style of pizza called Pinsa. The authentic cooking process and quality ingredients inspired a bright, fresh interior, with a color palette that complimented the food. From early design conversations with the client, we were intrigued by the idea of creating a modernized version of the traditional mosaic art seen throughout Rome.” – Helix.
Like any commercial project we do, our goal is to bring the brand to life to create an experiential space for the customers. We extended the brand colors, typography, and their quirky sense of humor to their tile wall.
“The personality of the Pinsa brand is extremely playful. From the pinsa-shaped business cards, to the "Pizza is Life" temporary tattoos offered at check-out, every aspect of the brand has a certain energy to it. We knew whatever we did in the space would need to bring that energy to life. The custom tile design used in the dining area was the perfect way to pull together the whimsy of the brand with the concept of the Roman-inspired mosaic art.” - Helix.
Tiled typography takes careful planning, particularly in this case as we needed to make their curvy font look perfect. Our design team mocks up the wall digitally first, this way the client gets to see it before production, and our awesome layout team has a template to work from.
The final product:
The final product is a slice of tile heaven, if we say so ourselves! We love how the Helix Group consistently carried out the red color in the décor throughout the space. Now this pizzeria has drool-worthy pizza AND tile.
