As you may or may not know, earlier this year in February we moved into an amazing artists building in NE Minneapolis called the Casket Arts Building.
Brick walls, exposed ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors are some of the architectural marvels of our building that had us in love at first sight. Unfortunately our burgeoning business doesn’t fit into the smaller units of the main, historic building but a newer expansion was added on years ago to accommodate larger businesses like us. This is where we live. However, in this newer expansion THERE WERE NO WINDOWS! This just wouldn’t do.
Now, we are people who LOVE the light. Seriously, for real, big time…no joke. When we moved into this space it was February and if you are familiar with Minnesota winters you know that you are completely bonkers, out of your mind to expose yourself, your home or your place of work to the outdoors for any period of time. So, we compromised in the meantime, relied on our two small skylights for time of day reference and put in windows on the inside of our space so curious artists and consumers could peak in and watch us work. Some may say this is creepy, but we preferred to think of it as more opportunity for exposure.
So, we’ve been working in essentially a zoo exhibit. Everyone could look at us from the inside, but we couldn’t see outside. Or you could think of us like bats that flocked to every source of light. Or bears in hibernation who still worked. Or whatever.
Fast forward 9 months and after much insouciant waiting and persistence we now can SEE THE LIGHT!!! We have a new sense of dignity, production and excitement. Who knew that just by seeing whether it’s snowing yet outside could make us so motivated and happy. We’re kind of crazy, we know.
If you live close by, come on over and check out our new windows. If you don’t live close, you can just be happy for us
Thanks to our awesome landlords who helped make this happen for us!
