A colorfully designed kitchen that has refreshing tropical vibes uses our Subway Tiles in a fun layout to create a vibrant backsplash! Tropical colors in a backsplash can completely brighten up any kitchen. There was a lot of attention to detail in the design for this backsplash and we’re showing you a behind the design look into this amazing kitchen!
Design
For a total of 6 walls, this kitchen was designed to have a backsplash that would wrap around the entire kitchen as well as have the tiles extend upwards on the larger walls. Customizing our Large Craftsman Squares pattern was the perfect way to create the desired look. With a mixture of square and rectangular tiles, this pattern creates so much excitement!

Color Selection
The homeowner chose to use the cooler of the primary colors with a pop of red for contrast. To create a well balanced look, we helped to design a formula that consisted of our 1062 Light Kiwi and 1056 Aqua Fresca as the primary colors with accents of 1011 Royal Purple, 1673 Espresso, 1013 Denim, 23 Sapphire Blue and 1206 Neon Red.

Edge Glazing
For a dazzling transition, the backsplash was extended to wrap around the wall between the kitchen and dining room. Rather than having the tile stop mid-way, the homeowner wished to show off the cubic edges of this unique pattern. For most tile, glaze is usually just applied to the top because it’s edges will not show after it has been grouted. But for any project that has exposed edges, we are able to hand glaze the sides to give it a finished look. See below for an example of the beautiful effects of Edge Glazing!
A Tropical Dream Come True
