A new home for Mercury Mosaics
From all of the alluring pictures and information we give to our fans and customers a lot of you out there may be wondering, where does Mercury Mosaics call home?
We are somewhat the pilgrims of the North Star state and have adapted to a lot of habitats. We suppose if it wasn’t for the fact that we keep growing year after year, then we wouldn’t have to go through the hassle of migrating. We don’t mind though. But we’re going to veto all winter migrations in the future.
The current place we call home is the Casket Arts Building in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District . Our building was built in 1887 and is one of the oldest buildings in the Twin Cities. In 1882 the Northwestern Casket Company occupied that massive brick building all the way until January 2005. Funerary products such as caskets, vaults, high quality funeral cars, burial garments and more were fabricated right inside these walls.
Despite the somewhat dark manufacturing past, today our building is filled with talented and lively artists. No pun intended. This building is by far our favorite location to date–amazing architecture, cool neighbors and awesome landlords.
Being a visual company though, the design and architecture of the building is what revs our proverbial tile engines. Do not twist that into something creepy.
