Multi-Room Tile Tour: The Ackerman Family

Multi-Room Tile Tour: The Ackerman Family

Next up on the tile tour is the Ackerman family’s boho-glam kitchen and powder room update. Interior designer and homeowner Bari J. Ackerman brought a modern, “old Hollywood” vibe to her home, and we’re so thrilled she picked Mercury Mosaics to bring her vision to life. Ready to be wowed? Come along and take a closer look at the stunning home updates.

1. Powder Room

First up, the powder room. Bari wanted to give this bathroom an art deco look-and-feel that was both colorful and sophisticated. Mercury Mosaic’s Medium Moroccan Fish Scale tile was the perfect choice to achieve this vision. Pulling inspiration from fan-shaped art deco tile, the Fish Scales were placed with the rounded part upwards to create a similar effect. We love Bari’s eye for detail, as she picked rounded accents to complement the rounded tile (those sconces are oh-so chic).

The hand-painted tile in the bathroom pulls from a palette of rich green and blue tile, arranged in an ombre-like pattern to give the wall an added depth. To continue the old Hollywood theme, Bari brought in gold and brass fixtures for the mirror and lighting that pop against the darker tile. If you want to achieve a similar vibe in your bathroom, you can learn more about the tiles and colors used here.

2. Herringbone Kitchen

The jewel-toned color palette continues into the kitchen, which uses Mercury’s handmade mosaic herringbone tile in emerald green. Herringbone tile plays off classic subway tile, but with an added twist and character. The end product is a kitchen backsplash that’s stylish and sophisticated. Bari complemented the green tile with black cabinetry and natural wood floating shelves, pulling in chic brass and gold fixtures similar to the powder room. Get the scoop on this look here.
