Creative Tile Finishing Ideas with Organic Edging

Creative Tile Finishing Ideas with Organic Edging

Be thoughtful when finishing your tile edges, and your final project is sure to shine. The edging of your tile makes a huge impact on the overall style and appearance of your project. While Bullnose, Schluter, and Pencil Liners are the most common types of finishing pieces, no finishing concept is quite as creative as organic edging. This ingenious option gives your tile a life of it's own, naturally transitioning into the rest of the room.

Here are 6 creative tile finishing ideas with organic edging:

1. Flowing Diamond Tile

Nothing says custom like a flowing edge of tile- here's one if our favorite examples from a project we made in construction2style's kitchen. The edging was designed to mirror the ceiling shape and rise to the range hood. This adventurous look creates a dynamic, eye-catching design that is 100% unique and personalized to you and your home.

2. Zig-Zag Diamond Tips

Say hello to geometric bliss by evenly exposing a horizontal line of Diamond tile tips. This idea creates a zig-zag pattern that is both beautiful and daring. Experiment with different glaze textures, like we did below, or mix an array of glazes for added depth and playfulness.

3. Hex-Edging with Diamond Tile

Did you know that three of our Medium Diamonds creates a Large Hexagon? There are quite a few fun ways to play with this serendipitous combination. In this modern bright white shower, we created the look of Hexagon edging even though we only used Diamond tile. This finishing plays with the eye in a most delightful way.

4. Tile to Wood Transition - Hexagon Floor

The flowing edge of this Hexagon floor tile stylishly welcomes all into the home. This sophisticated edging required a talented installer- in this case, our friends from Kinetic Design Build were up to the task! 5. Boho Hexagon Tile Backsplash

This project is a great example of how you can give standard tile a custom look by simply finishing with organic edging. We adore the bold Bluegrass glaze against a plain white wall for added contrast. It goes to show that the wow-factor often lies within the details of your project.

6. Hexagon Cluster Statement Wall

We love turning tile into a representation of the people that inhabit a space. In the case of Chowgirls Killer Catering, we were assigned to make a statement wall to show off the buzzing activity of their headquarters. Based on a beehive, this cluster of Hexagon tile even has screen-printed bees on it, thanks to our friend at Lazy Susan Pottery

7. Rounded Bubble Finishing

No tile seems quite as apt to having a floating transition as our Bubbles. Their beautifully rounded shape creates a fantastic and inspiring edge. This project was installed at one of our favorite local salons - what better area to have Bubbles than the place where you suds up?
