5 Kitchen Island Ideas with Handmade Tile

5 Kitchen Island Ideas with Handmade Tile

Whether in a bar, cafe, or in your kitchen, an island is meant to be the center of attention. If you want to go bold with color and pattern, or keep it classy with a neutral palette, there's no denying that adding handmade tile to your island will make your space pop. Here are 5 of our favorite ways to dress up your kitchen island with handmade tile...

1. Sleek Diamond Island

A tiled kitchen island is the best place to experiment with white tile because it allows you to play with other color in your design. In this Hedley & Bennett kitchen, our 130 White glaze is filled with personality and character. Using high variation,  some pieces are more opaque, while others show the detail of brushstrokes through a thinner application. This glossy and perfectly varied glaze creates a one-of-a-kind look that's the perfect option to complete this happy space.

3. Geometric Ombre Island

Even though this is technically a reception desk at the amazing Brow Chic Salon, we think this concept would make a beautiful kitchen island. Mixing shapes adds a whole new dimension of intricacy to your tile installation. For this project we mixed Medium Diamonds and Large Hexagons because they fit together flawlessly. With 80% Hexagons and 20% Diamonds, this project is 100% eye-candy!

4. Scandinavian Modern Island

When it comes to Scandinavian Modern design, we tend to see bright white and minimalist spaces. For this particular project, the designers were determined to take the interior style they love and add in pops of color. The Bachelor Farmer Cafe is known for its bold tiled walls and bar islands. They chose a palette of primary blues and yellows that prove that Scandinavian Modern design can be colorful and classy. For extra style points, transition your island tile to the floor with cove base trim for a visually appealing and functional space.

5. Jewel-Toned Island

We love jewel tones just as much as the next interior design fanatic, but when you combine these colors with handmade tile, it creates magic. Our glossy green glazes are the perfect way to spice up your kitchen and leave you guests with tile envy. Never underestimate the power of tiling accent spots in a room. This little bit of tile can completely transform a space, turning it from blah to brilliant.
