6 Colorful Backsplash Ideas

The use of color in kitchens can define the mood that you want to walk into every day. We love the idea of defining your personal style through the use of color in the happiest room of the house. The goal is to not only make your kitchen inviting but to create a harmonious and well-coordinated space. Even the ancient Egyptians used color as a holistic practice by studying the effects of color on a person’s disposition. Modern psychology has expanded on this idea to define temperaments of mood in terms of color, like sunshine yellow, earth green, cool blue, and fiery red. Read on to see how the use of color can dramatically change the vibe of some of our favorite kitchen backsplash ideas

1. Pop of Green

Green is the color of nature and provides a peaceful vibe to any room. Here, the forest green Large Hexagon tile is the perfect contrast to the bright white cabinets and chrome fixtures of this stunning kitchen. The green tile adds a gentle sense of drama, while providing an overall calming effect to the space.

2. Baby Blues

Using shades of blues in your kitchen is another way to add a calming feeling to this high-traffic area. Especially when used in a room with a good amount of natural light, blue can offer a sense of tranquility that promotes health, healing, and confidence. We are totally in love with this bright and airy Medium Cube Diamond backsplash!

3. Playful Pinks

This graphic stove splash has all of the character and color you could want in a kitchen. The combination of black, white, and grey with this pale pink keeps the palette clean and sophisticated without reading too romantic. Pink can be the perfect way to bring a playful warmth to your kitchen.

4. Earthy Hues

Using color in your kitchen doesn’t have to define the space through distinctive tones. This dark green earth-tone Herringbone design is a more accessible way to bring color into your home through the use of a textured, high variation glaze.

5. Multi-Color Design

We couldn’t be more excited with what is becoming our signature custom design: A Medium Diamond ombre layout with a “river” of color running through it. We’ve done many neutral variations of this motif, but in this stunning stove splash, we opted for a pastel color palette to create a light and airy feel to this classic, yet modern kitchen. Just imagine the possibilities of color to make this design your own.

6. Just a Little Color

You don’t need to go big with color to be able to add some brightness to your kitchen. This Fox Homes Eichler Palms diamond tile kitchen has just the right amount of color to contrast the mid-century modern-inspired cabinets and fixtures. The organic and geometric forms provide sleek and uncluttered lines, forming a perfect juxtaposition between the contrasting materials.
